Abstract

Despite the richness in the cultural resources that lie in the traditional region of Turopolje no significant tourist activity has been developed. Up untill the 1970's, Turopolje and Velika Gorica have been evolving as peer parts of one single functional region. With the growth of Zagreb aglomeration, and consequently the developement of Velika Gorica as satellite dormitory town, disintegration of the traditional region occured and simultaneously began the polarized development of Velika Gorica and Turopolje. In the process, the homeland identity has been compromised, and Turopolje began to fall behind Velika Gorica developmentally. In view of the above, only the tourism of Velika Gorica has been systematically developed, mainly due to the location of Airport Zagreb, and as a result the tourist offer is not in accordance with the character of the area. The purpose of the thesis is to analize interrelationaship beetween tourist offer and specific character of the region, and consecuently, based on the study results, the aim is to offer suggestions on how to improve the tourism product of the traditional region of Turopolje.
