Abstract

Spatial planning in Dubrovnik had considerable influence on the development of the city since the second half of the 20th century, when Regional spatial plan of „South Jadran“ was brought and initiated intensive transformation od the southern Dalmatia, i.e. Dubrovnik and its surrounding area. The spatial scope of research in this thesis matches administrative regions of the City of Dubrovnik and the municipality of Župa Dubrovačka. Object of the research is urban planning documentation, brought from the period of 1960s onward, whose aim was to closely define and direct further development of the city area, which under the influence of the overall development processes, was extremely spontaneous. This work analyses their importance, defined goals and development measures with impact they left in the social, functional and morphological component of the spatial structure. Research results indicate limited effect and the degree of realization of the set objectives, especially on the matter of restructuring of the city`s functional zones and polycentric development of the wider city area with establishment of the secondary centers of development.
