The dissolution of socialist Yugoslavia created six sovereign, independent states, with which were brought to the surface new, complex, security, geopolitical and identity challenges. In that multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious region emergence of many internal and foreign policy problems, that have impeded full establishment of statehood, was inevitable. The challenge that stands out in the same region is so called Macedonian question, regarding the existence and definition of Macedonia, Macedonians and Macedonian as a republic, people and language, and is reflected in the enchroachment of neighboring countries. Therefore the Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) is defined as the geopolitical center of gravity of Southeastern Europe, and location of potential new deterioration in the political map of Europe. This paper examines the causes and consequences of creation and existence of Macedonian identities. Identities which are a basic human right in the one hand, and changeable constructs based on national narratives and myths in the other. Taking into account historical development, demographics, everyday circumstances, implications and interactions in space, it will try to make a realistic and contemporary picture of titled identities. It will confirm its merits in space or will refute it and prove that it is a once postmodern construct, which found fertile ground on Balkan peninsula.
