In the process od working on thesis is conducted a demographic study and analysis to show modern demographics data of Poljica (Poljica's principalities/republic) based on census 1991., 2001. i 2011. The aim of this thesis is to determine dominant demographic trends in all 25 settlements, to explain the spatial distibution, changes in population (natural and social) that are present in the settlement. Modern demographic development of Poljica is marked by an imigration (although in most settlements prevailing emigration, more specifically demographic extinction) and positive natural change (but reduced rates of natural increase). Polarized development is followed by a growing demographic abandoning of Poljica's rural periphery area, due to the strengthening of coastal settlements. One of the coastal settlements is the settlement Podstrana which has 38.84% of the total population of Poljica. The positive trends settlements Podstrane are the one that reflect the trends of Poljicas republic and they are still providing a promising picture of the region in relation to the larger space of the Republic of Croatia.
