Abstract

Urban system contains of 3 main dimensions: hierarchy, temporal, spatial. This thesis analyses all three dimensios of Australian urban system. Main atributte is concetracion of coastal cities as the effect of rough climatic conditions. Australia has large percentage of urban population. Reasons for that are low number of agricultural workes, highly developed secondary and tertiary sectors which are situated near or in cities. Difference between Australia and other developed countries is in demographic characteristic. Australia is recording substantial natural growth of population, despite it's development. Main demographic factor are imigrants. Because of the constant growing economy, today more and more imigrants enters the country, especially younger bioreproductive population and improve demographic situation.
