Brasília is the capital of Brazil and the biggest city in it's interior. The area of Brasília is 5 814 km². According to data from 2014 city had 2 852 372 inhabitants. The famous capital, that was built in 1960, is an unique example of town created ex nihilo. The initiative to built the city launched the President Juscelino Kubitschek 1956, but idea of the capital, located in the interior was there even in 1823. Architecture and the status of capital make it specific in relation to other Brazilian cities. The city is designed as administrative center and the center of government with only half million inhabitants. Today, city is far from initial idea and deviation from original plan started right after city was built. The aim is to show difference between the initial idea of Brasília and what this city represents today. This paper will analyze the characteristics of spatial structure (functional, social and morphological). Compared with the the two Brazilian cities, Curitiba and Recife, there will be shown that Brasília isn’t a typical example of a city with a classical city processes.
