Abstract

Međimurje County stands out because of its population and economic concentration compared with other parts of Croatia. Today, the Međimurje County is the most populated administrative unit of Croatia. Its demographic characteristics as well as its economic development are favorable in comparison to other administrative units of the country. This Bachelor Thesis analyzes demographic characteristics of Međimurje County after 1991. Spatial distribution of population is being analyzed on the administrative level of towns and municipalities. Natural and spatial population change and population number change is being analyzed on the administrative level of county as well as its population structures (age-sex, socio-economic, education). Future demographic trends of Međimurje County’s population are predicted at the end of the Thesis.
