Population as the most important factor of economic development is a demographic framework for creating a workforce that influences and directs all activities in the area. Demographic and socio-economic development are linked, so any changes and disturbances in demographic development (total and natural population change, distribution of population, migration and demographics tructures) will be reflected in the dynamics and direction of economic development. Given that the laborforce is formed from a contingent of working age population is under the direct influence of the tendencies in the development of age-sexstructure, analysis and knowledge of the consequences of population aging is an important precondition for the evaluation of demographic potentialin the current and future economy of Slavonski Brod region. Unfavorable tendencies in population development will negatively influence on region's development, which means that the demographic restructuring and stopping negative processes should be strategic factor and the overall goal of the reconstruction and development of this area.
