The existence of attractive natural values suitable for recreational use and the relatively small distance from larger urban areas are the main determinants of rural areas with potential of recreational evaluation. Šoderica, lakeside recreational destination in the vicinity of Koprivnica, has been selected as a case study of this research, with following objectives: study of historical development of recreation, determination of attraction base elements, analysis of socio-demographic structure of visitors, their motives and activities engaged, analysis of space-time features of recreational mobility, analysis of visitors' attitudes regarding recreational attraction base and offer, potential and impacts of recreation, defining actual impacts of recreation and suggesting guidelines for the future development of Šoderica as recreational area. The results of this research enable better understanding of the recreational activities and the interaction between visitors' demands and the lacustrine system.
