Abstract

Numerous educational studies have shown that interactive teaching is very effective in developing a conceptual understanding of physics. Experiments can be very useful for active involving students in the teaching process. Recently, the computers are increasingly used in experiments. Using computer programs facilitates data collection and analysis so that students can concentrate on understanding physical concepts and developing scientific reasoning that are the main aim of their enquiry. Computers in experiments direct students to investigation of physical laws, give them immediate feedback, encourage collaboration, and enable active participation of students in research that deepens their understanding. The aim of this diploma thesis was to develop interactive teaching materials for experiments with computers in mechanics. The experiments are selected from mechanics because the mechanics is fundamental discipline in physics. The thesis deals with kinematics, Newton's laws, friction, impulse, and the laws of conservation of momentum and energy. The part of materials and experiments were tested in school. The experience from school has shown numerous benefits of using computers in experiments, such as fast and precise measurements, and possibility to perform experiments that were not feasible with standard equipment. Students were enthusiastic about using modern technology during the performance of experiments and they were interested in class and therefore more active. The intention is that this diploma thesis helps pre-service and inservice teachers in the preparation for interactive teaching.
