Abstract

The writing of this paper began with the hypothesis that potentials of agrotourism and rural tourism in general in the Lika region are not as used as they should be. The region of Lika is filled with natural resources, especially forest and water resources, as well as large protected areas – some of them are even protected by UNESCO. Furthermore, the traditional economic activity of this area is agriculture. In spite of that, farm owners have more problems with market placement of their products, which has a direct influence on the profitability of their farms. Therefore, additional offerings of a touristic nature on their farms could probably be one of the ways to help them increase the revenues, and to solve their problem with production surpluses, as they could offer them directly to the farm visitors. For this paper, interviews with the farm owners were conducted, and in the end, even though there are still many limitations and problems for owners to deal with, the hypothesis was confirmed.
