Abstract

The importance of wine tourism is growing for many wine regions worldwide. This unique tourist product gives small winemakers an opportunity to develop their production and gain better recognition of their products. Wine tourism is also considered to be an important asset in regional development. In Croatia, there are 69 vineyards divided into 12 winemaking regions. One of those vineyards is the Syrmia Vineyard, a part of which is the Ilok Region. The Ilok Region is traditionally known as a winemaking region, and for the last decade, it has been focused on the development of wine tourism. The purpose of this paper is to analyse the current state of wine tourism in the Ilok Region, and to define the future goals of further development.
