Abstract

This Master thesis provides an analysis of population development and demographic features of Baranja in the period from 1961 to 2011. The purpose of this study is to determine the most important trends and processes based on statistical data. Emigration, population decline and ageing, as well as its uneven distribution, followed by poor economic situation, are the characteristics of the contemporary demographic development of Baranja. The latest 2011 Census indicates the depopulation processes, which along with population's impaired age-sex structure, are becoming more acute and exceedingly unfavourable.
