The greatest impact on the seating of settlements has the relief and social historical events. The period during the war with the Ottoman Empire was very important for development of settlements, because the predisposition of defense was a key factor for the future development of the settlements. At the same time the ethnic composition of the population was changed, which affected the today's ethnic composition. During the second half of the twentieth century, total population movement in Ogulin-Plaški basin has a negative trend, due to the negative natural increase of population and immigration. This demographic situation is a consequence of industrialization, agrarian reform, bad economic situation, and in raising awareness of a small number of children. In the same period, the part of employed in the primary sector was decreased but the part of employed in the tertiary sector was increased.
