Abstract

The paper explores the demographic development of Karlovac County from 1991 to 2011. Emphasis is placed on population trends and the development of the ethnic structure of the county, which are influenced by historical events and socio-economic development. The methodology used in the preparation of this paper is to analyze the population and scientific literature, and are based on figures which made the whole pitcure and statistic tables. General depopulation unfortunately are on the rise, which is especially intensified last twenty years. It is the result of emigration and depopulation natural depopulation, while intensive aging population. Situation is greatly contributed to the poor economic conditions. All the structure of the population show unfavorable characteristics that will cause continuation of regressive demographic development in the form of declining population, natural decrease and erosion of all demographic and economic structure.
