Abstract

Invasive species have negative affects on biodiversity and functioning of ecosystems, on biotechnical disciplines, even on health and quality of human life. Invasive flora has neither been systematically investigated on national level, nor in the area of Ščitarjevo (central Croatia, Zagreb county, on the right bank of river Sava, only ten kilometers of air distance away from the Zagreb’s city center). The goal of this thesis was (1) inventarisation, (2) mapping and (3) analysis of the invasive vascular flora of the Ščitarjevo area which covers totally 21.7 km2. The investigation consisted of field work, laboratory interpretation and computer analysis of collected data. Application mBotanic was used for mapping and data entry on a mobile phone Vivax Smart Fly x50, also equiped with GPS device. 19 invasive species from 12 familes were reported. The most abundant are the species that belong to family Asteracae and the two most common species are Solidago gigantea Aiton and Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers. Areas that are experiencing strongest antropogenic influence (waste disposals, roads, dam) are the highest regarding the number of invasive species. Most of the reported species originate from North, Middle or South America and the most common life form are therophytes. The most common ways of dissemination are anemochory, antropochory and epizoochory. The results are as expected and accordant to the ones obtained in other areas.
