Abstract

Volcanoes and earthquakes are an important part of the tectonic activity. Japan, United States of America and Chile are spaces with significant tectonic activity. In this paper tectonic activities will be explained, primarily larger earthquakes in the named countries. The main focus of the paper will be on the examples of the latest large earthquakes and the link between these earthquakes and the demographic characteristics and processes in the named countries. Based on the demographic data and its analysis a conclusion will be brought regarding whether and to which extent tectonic activities influence demographic characteristics and processes of the named countries.
