Botanical gardens are inseparably related to education. Botany of the 16th century was part of former medicine, therefore interest was concentrated to medicinal plants used to treat diseases. Renaissance revival of classical learning spirit influenced the development of modern botany. The origin of the botanical gardens can be found in European medical gardens known as "The Physic" gardens. Botanical Garden of Padua, over 450 years old, is considered to be the original botanical garden; it represents the birth of science, scientific exchanges and awareness of the relations between nature and culture. It made a great contribution to modern scientific disciplines, especially botany, medicine, chemistry, ecology, and pharmacy.
