Tree sparrow (Passer montanus L.) is bird from the family of sparrows Passeridae. It occurs in lowland areas, rarely in areas higher than 700 m above sea level. The living area of this birds are gardens, fields, parks, old orchards, forest edges near the village, and also occurs in populated urban areas. In Croatia, tree sparrow nests in the continental part, but in recent years also is nesting in Croatian part of the Mediteranean. In this research, we tried to find out something about the characteristics of nesting 2012th year. The mean egg length was 18,91 mm, mean breadth 13,99 mm, mean volume 1891,58 mm3 and mean egg shape index 1,34. The average number of eggs in the nest was 5,04, and the average number of hatched bird 4,5. Between individual nesting there were no significant differences in the studied parameters. On the characteristics of nesting did not affect the date of laying or orientation nestbox. “The trade-off hypothesis” has not been proven.
