Karst Dace (Telestes karsticus Marčić i Mrakovčić, 2011) is an endemic species from the family of Cyprinidae, order of Cypriniformes. It is a stenoaendemic species living in the Danube basin whose presence in Croatia has been recorded on a few localities around Velika and Mala Kapela. As the species has been described only recently, little is known about its biological features, including reproductive characteristics. In order to contribute to its protection it is important to know the biology and ecology of the species. The aim of the research was to collect basic information on its reproduction. Fish samples were collected over a period of thirteen months during 2007 and 2008 on the Sušik stream in the Lug field. 624 individual specimens were analysed. The results show that the sex ratio in the studied population favours the males in almost every part of the year. Females reach greater body length than males and dominate in standard body length greater than 80 mm. Reproductive cycle of T. karsticus peaks in April, i.e., when the temperature of the water in the Sušik stream is between 7˚C and 14 ˚C. At the time of spawning, males fertilise adhesive eggs in the water that are glued to the rocky surface. Absolute fecundity of sexually mature females has been estimated at a mean value of 1536 eggs and the relative fecundity is about 162 eggs per gram of body weight.
