One of the most important tasks of geomorphometry is the development and analysis of digital terrain models. The model - which can be used for various purposes, such as predictions, risk calculations, decision making in environmental management etc. – is the main factor which determines the quality of the output results. The aim of this research is to determine the optimal interpolators for the purpose of geomorphological researches, by the means of comparison of 9 deterministic and 8 geostatical methods of interpolation. For the model development and interpolation method comparison, three sets of height data are used, which are acquired by various methods, techniques and procedures: bathymetric measurements, aerial survey (aerophotogrammetry), stereo-restitution analysis and vectorization of contour lines from the HOK database. For the selection of the best methods of interpolation, 8 statistical parameters and graphical representations (two-dimensional and three-dimensional) are used. The research aims to explain the effects of relief of the terrain, sample density, pixel size, methods (techniques) of interpolation, vertical resolution and algorithms in relation to the output results. The bathymetric map of Lake Vransko presented in this thesis is based on bathymetric surveys using RTK-GPS and singlebeam echosounder. It is also the first bathymetric map made using this methodology in Croatia. The new data on bathymetric features, surface and volume of Lake Vransko are presented in the thesis.
