The requirement for the consideration and determination of relevant presumptions of geographical identification and geographical recognition in scientific, research and educational system has been validated by numerous instances of its subject-object ambiguity and the reflection of that ambiguity in overall society. After the geographical indetrminateness has been notedand contemplated on various institutional, study, educational and social levels, identifying key geographical categories, which the identity of geography consists of, has been approached primarly by cognitive-speculative methods (philosophical and logical), Earth surface area, geographical space and space-time continuum have been considered and defined to identify the outer object or subject-matter of geographical research and contexts, processes, links, relations and models within the geographical space, which resulted from a fundamental relation of a physical ground and a social superstructure, as an inner subject-matter of geographical research interest. The same practice has been applied for population geography and for principles of segregating individual disciplines within the frame of geographical system as well. The result is the definition of geography and population geography, throughout which the acknowledgment of geographical identity as scientific, educational, research and social necessity is expected.
