Abstract

The study deals with spatial differentiation, identification and valorization of demographic resources and potentials of three counties in nortwestern Croatia: Krapina-Zagorje, Varaždin and MeĎimurje and their administrative units (towns/municipalities and settlements). The researched area comprises 852 settlements, 16 towns i 68 municipalities. Demographic development and bio-dynamic characteristics of counties and their administrative units have been analysed as well as interrelation between demographic and socio-economic development of researched area. The research of demographic characteristics and development included analysis of the demographic data in period 1961-2001, and the focus of this research – the analysis of demographic resources and potentials were based on Census 2001 data.
