Abstract

The term transition denotes development of postsocialistic world in the direction of reconstructing those civilisation trends wich socialism broke up early. The reaserch goal of this dissertation is to define the changes in economy which happened in the area of Central Croatia in the transition period, i.e. between 1991 and 2008. So, the area that will be analysed in this dissertation is Central Croatia, which consists of nine counties: County of Zagreb, County of Krapina-Zagorje, County of Sisak-Moslavina, County of Karlovac, County of Varaždin, County of Koprivnica-Križevci, County of Bjelovar-Bilogora, County of MeĎimurje and City of Zagreb. This area is economicly the most developed one in Croatia notably because of the city of Zagreb, which is a governmental, political and economic centre, but other counties also have economic, social, developmental, cultural and other particularities worth exploring.
