This thesis presents a research of the potential bicycle routes development on the island of Brač. After introducing with the previous researches and literature, followed by a review of definitions and usage of geographic information systems in general, as well as in tourism planning, there is a brief explanation of the phases and methods of spatial analysis in GIS. Natural and social attractive factors, which represents essential conditions for tourism development are described through examination of geographical characteristics of the tourism on the island of Brač. After these chapters follows the analysis of potential bicycle routes developement through creating GIS model, followed by an overview of attractive locations and network analysis of the island. Detailed and expert analysis provided the foundation for the final results, which show nine potential bike routes according to the previously made categorization. The routes are presented with simple and easy readable but also detailed graphic representation. On the end of the research conclusion provides an answer, which confirms that the island of Brač has a great potential for bicycle routes development as an indispensable part of the recreational tourism.
