Abstract

Favorable geographical and transit position on crossroad of important traffic directions caused considerable traffic and economic development of Primorsko-Goranska district. Road traffic is the most noteworthy segment of traffic network development in the district so major part of the research is focused into the role and meaning of road network, traffic corridor Vb that carries most of the traffic, future construction plans and road infrastructure development priorities. Maximum potentials of railroad traffic are not exploited but its biggest importance is in complementarity with other traffic forms and in future projects as lowland rail tracks and Rijeka fast city railroad. Port of Rijeka has a great traffic importance in this region, so large number of Port's development projects affected appearance and purpose of the Rijeka city. Special attention is directed toward plans of airport development, as well as pipeline transport projects that makes this district directly connected with European pipeline networks.
